The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance promotes new leadership from within the organization to lead it forward. Jeffrey McCauley is pleased to assume the role of Acting President of the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance, based on his performance as the Director of Trail Development. Mr. McCauley has the full support of the Board of Directors to continue to operate and guide the organization. Resigning President Thomas Baxter IV has assumed a role on the Board of Directors.
The September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance is pleased that Baxter is continuing as a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Baxter has moved the organization forward tremendously while being the organization’s President but felt a step onto the Board of Directors better aligned with his current position in life. Baxter will continue to play a vital role in the organization and provide guidance to McCauley as he gains his footing in the new role of leading the Alliance.
The September 11th National Memorial Trail serves to preserve and perpetuate the memories of those impacted on September 11, 2001, by connecting the National September 11th Memorial and Museum in New York City, the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, and other sites of resilience and freedom through a 1,300-mile multi-use September 11th National Memorial Trail.
The September 11th National Memorial Trail will be a world-class experience developed as a Trail of remembrance to honor those who gave their all for freedom on September 11, 2001; for their families and first responders; and for the generations before them who sacrificed to protect our freedom and American values. The Trail will be an important recreational and transportation catalyst promoting tourism, economic development, healthy bodies and minds, and cultural, historical and educational opportunities for generations to come.
