New Summit School had a library dedication day on Thursday, April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the high school gym. NSS presented recognition to the National Honor Society, Monica Didier (Founder & Principal of The Bridge Forward Group, LLC), and others who have made this day possible. We had a special guest, First Lady Deborah Bryant, speaking on behalf of Mississippi literacy in our schools. We also invited Mississippi authors including: Randy Pierce, Mathew Guinn, Martin Hegwood, Nell Knox & Ellen Rodgers Johnson, Merle Temple, Malcolm White, and Jim Ritchie speak to the students about their experiences and adventures they faced, There where other distinguished guests and dignitaries throughout the day including Senator Will Longwitz, Representative John Moore, Greater Jackson Chamber and representatives from the Mayor's office. Most of the books for the new upper school library were purchased through Lemuria Book Store. New Summit School has recently opened a 20,000 square foot building that will house over 200 students 6-12th grade. New Summit is designed similar to traditional schools but the emphasis is placed on keeping instructional groups small and teaching to the individual student in a positive and stimulating environment. The students are extremely bright with various learning styles and skill levels. Our goal is to promote academic achievement and social growth with an environment enriched by economic and ethnic diversity.

This crest is on New Summit School's main wall leading up the stair case in the upper school. Our goal is to have the crest at all our locations. |
