Hello Irish Faithful,
Today we launched the new look of Aquinas High School, and we would like to take a minute to share it with all of you.
School Seal
The seal was first adopted in 1963 with careful attention paid to the building blocks of Aquinas High School. As we researched the meaning behind the seal, specifically the four symbols in the scroll, we quickly realized that as it had been redrawn, converted to a digital format, and reproduced numerous times, much of the original detail and significance was lost. The top left represents the coat of arms for the Diocese of Savannah. The top right is the fleur-de-lis cross representing the Dominican Order, of which St. Thomas Aquinas was a part. The bottom left represents St. Joseph who is the patron of the Sisters of St. Joseph, who made up a significant portion of the original faculty of Aquinas High School. And finally, the bottom right represents the Marist Brothers who made up the other half of the original faculty.

Below is a side by side comparison of the old (left) and new (right) seals. The new seal more accurately honors and represents the four contributing pillars upon which our school was built.
Athletic Mark
The A has always been a part of our visual identity, but now we have an A that is truly unique to us. Looking closely at the left leg of the A, you will notice that subtly there is a cross formed by the intersection of the two lines. This is there intentionally to remind our athletes to compete to the best of their God-given abilities and for His glory.

The Irish Man remains unchanged with the exception of updating his color scheme.
School Mark
Completely new to us is our School Mark. We wanted something that would be easily recognizable and be able to represent Aquinas for years to come.
Our mark was inspired by the Church of St. Thomas Aquinas in Roccasecca, Italy, which is also the birth place of Aquinas. This is the first church known to be built in honor of our incredible patron.

Prominently at the top is a cross undeniably representing our Christian heritage. As you move down the steeple, you're drawn in to the strength and integrity of the structure and so too of an Aquinas education. Finally, at the bottom is 1957, the year of our founding, reminding everyone that we have a long history and a firm foundation on which we will continue to grow and build.
This is truly an exciting time for our school community! In the weeks to come, you will see these changes reflected on our campus and in the broader Augusta community. Thank you for your continued love and support of Aquinas High School. God bless!
Sincerely,
Tim Przybysz
