Governor Reeves Issues Additional Social Distancing Measures for 13 Counties to Protect Public Health
JACKSON  — Governor Tate Reeves has announced additional social distancing measures for thirteen counties identified as hotspots within our state to limit transmission around the communities and protect the health of all Mississippians.

Consulting with our state health experts, thirteen counties were identified as localized regions with spikes in cases and at a higher risk for transmission:

  • Claiborne
  • Desoto
  • Grenada
  • Harrison
  • Hinds
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Madison
  • Quitman
  • Rankin
  • Sunflower
  • Washington
  • Wayne

Governor Reeves signed a new executive order establishing additional restrictions for those thirteen counties to slow the spread of COVID-19, including requiring people to wear masks when at public gatherings or in a shopping environment and limiting social gatherings to no more than 10 indoors and 20 outdoors.

"Mississippi is in a fight for our lives. COVID-19 is an ever-present threat, and we are in the middle of a spike. It is putting a strain on our hospital system," said Governor Tate Reeves at a press briefing. "Today, I am announcing a new order which places tighter restrictions on thirteen counties that are seeing greater risk than others. Make no mistake. The risk is present everywhere. It is most visible in these counties."

Mississippi Business Emergency Operations Center (MSBEOC)
MSBEOC - Online Platform of Information Sharing Throughout the Business Community During Response and Recovery Events
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency launched its virtual Mississippi Business Emergency Operations Center (MSBEOC) back in April. The Clinton Chamber is sharing details about this initiative in case you missed learning about this valuable platform that continues to help our state as our coronavirus number spike.

The website  www.msbeoc.msema.org  will serve as a way for businesses that would like to contribute to the fight of COVID-19 or any natural disaster to register with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency .
The MSBEOC provides disaster-specific communications from MEMA to registered members to coordinate private-sector businesses. It connects those who need resources with resource providers during response and recovery from an emergency or disaster event.

MSBEOC is open to any business or organization, there is no cost to join.

Purchases made through the MSBEOC will be on a case by case basis. Registering with the MSBEOC does not qualify your business as a vendor for the state of Mississippi.

This site is only in its beginning phase. In the next phases of the website, MEMA’s MSBEOC will be an exclusive source of information for businesses to chat with one another online during disasters. This communication will give business owners the ability to discuss their needs, who can help and how soon that help can arrive.

Multiple states across the country operate a business emergency operation center. MEMA will serve as the coordinating office to put those in need with the resources that are necessary in recovery.

If you’re already a vendor with the state of Mississippi and have supplies that could help with the COVID-19 fight or other disasters MEMA encourages you to register with the MSBEOC or email MEMA at Private.Sector@mema.ms.gov
