In light of the spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, which now accounts for 58% of new infections in the US, Santa Clara County was one of eight Bay Area jurisdictions to release new recommendations on July 16, urging all individuals, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear their masks indoors. While vaccinated individuals are largely protected from the COVID-19 virus, wearing a mask would be an additional precautionary measure for all and will further protect those who are unvaccinated. Masks are recommended in indoor settings like grocery and retail stores, movie theaters, and family entertainment centers. Santa Clara County urges businesses to adopt masking requirements for all customers, regardless of vaccination status, to better protect their employees and customers. Please also note that business must still comply with Cal/OSHA requirements.

Getting vaccinated is the best way to ensure the safety of our families and community. Vaccines are safe, easily available, free, and effective against COVID-19. Visit www.sccfreevax.org to find a vaccination site near you.
