Town crews will alternate curbside leaf collection weekly between north and south of the W&OD trail. Residents should rake leaves as close to the curb as possible without blocking storm drains, sidewalks or mailboxes and without impeding vehicular traffic. During leaf collection, grass clippings, shrub clippings and weeds must be placed in 30-gallon kraft, recyclable bags and should be placed out on your regular trash day.

Following the scheduled fall collection, leaves must be placed in 30-gallon kraft recyclable bags and will be picked up on regular trash/yard waste collection days.

Economic Development Manager Appointed

The Town of Herndon is pleased to announce the appointment of Collin Okoniewski as its new Economic Development Manager.

In this role, Okoniewski will lead the Town’s business retention and attraction efforts. He will collaborate with local entrepreneurs, regional economic development partners, and community organizations to align resources, strengthen partnerships, and advance shared goals for Herndon.

“I’m honored to step into this role and continue working to make Herndon a stronger, more vibrant place to live, work, and do business,” said Okoniewski.

With nearly a decade of service to the Town of Herndon across planning, zoning, and community development, Okoniewski brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the community’s needs. He has played a central role in modernizing local government processes to better serve both businesses and residents. Most recently, he spearheaded the Small Business Process Improvement Initiative, a cross-departmental effort focused on streamlining business licensing and permitting systems to create a more efficient, business-friendly experience.

As Economic Development Manager, Okoniewski will also help lead the Town’s newly established Office of Communication and Economic Engagement. This team integrates the Town’s formerly separate communication and economic development functions, combining outreach, engagement, and marketing to deliver clear, consistent, and impactful messaging to residents, businesses, and visitors.

A Herndon resident, alongside his wife and son, Okoniewski has a personal stake in the Town’s success and is committed to fostering a thriving, connected, and welcoming community for future generations.

Outside of his professional role, Okoniewski volunteers his time to support civic and philanthropic efforts. He is an active member of the Loudoun Elks Lodge and a volunteer youth sports coach. In his free time, he enjoys golf, cheering on the Buffalo Bills, and spending time outdoors.
