Message from Pastor Jon
Dear Friends and Members of Ark and Dove,

Is there a character in the Bible with whom you identify? Are you like Moses, burdened with great responsibility and unsure of your capability to answer the call? Do you aspire to be like Ruth, dedicated to loved ones despite the cost? Are you akin to Zacchaeus, curious about Jesus but not quite ready to commit? Do you do as Martha, work, work, work without rest to recognize others?

This year at LOGOS, our Tuesday evening children and youth program, we are focusing on characters of the Bible. Each week, we will study one person of the Bible not only in an effort to know Bible stories, but also the people who animate them. Our hope is for our children, youth, and adult leaders to see themselves in a biblical person. In doing so, they gain an example of how faith is lived.

If you have children, I hope you join LOGOS this year. It is a fantastic experience each night. If you don't, I ask that you come to LOGOS too. You will grow in faith and love as we worship, study, eat, and play together. Talk to Amy Tardiff (itsmemim@gmail.com) and Rachael Tisdale (rachaeltisdale@gmail.com), they will tell you the wonders of LOGOS. We begin this Tuesday, September 25, 5:30-7:30 pm.

Peace,
Jon

Verse and Prayer

Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.
- Mark 9:35
God of all: you give us this difficult truth. You know that in our world the early bird gets the worm, the reward goes to those who earn it, the award is given to the one in first place. Yet in your world, those who have lost out, missed the mark, and gotten last place are held high. Help us understand how this is so! Grant us a new understanding of what it means to be your children. Give us the courage to honor the shamed in our world. Amen.
Notes for you!
The choir did a wonderful job last Sunday. We are looking forward to sharing with you some more beautiful music this weekend, as we welcome our new members to the church. Many thanks to the warm welcomes and compliments from our last service, I am very honored to serve. See you all on Sunday!

Equipping the Saints
Conflict Resolution and Forgiveness
In our daily lives, as well as in our teams and ministries at church, conflicts are inevitable – some minor, some, perhaps, not so minor. Being better equipped to deal with these conflicts in a forgiving manner is a tool each of us can use. Join us on Wednesday, October 3rd at 6:30 as Pastors Tim and Jon lead a discussion on conflict resolution and forgiveness. We will start with dinner at 6:30 followed by lessons from 7-8:30. Contact Steve Debus (steven.debus89@gmail.com) or Bruce Sanders (BruSanders@aol.com) for more information.
Mission Ministry
Peace and Global Witness Special Offering
Now may the Lord of peace...give you peace at all times in all ways.
 -2 Thessalonians 3:16

Shaping a foundation for peace starts with honest conversations and shared experiences. When we share, we carry each other’s burdens, advocate for one another, and share each other’s hopes. That is what we have done with our IAF listening sessions and relational meetings. Faith groups around Anne Arundel County have come together to share what is important to residents of Anne Arundel County. The Peace and Global Witness Offering unites our church with other faith groups and partnerships as we reach out to people who long for peace and reconciliation. All of this offering will go directly to Arundel IAF. Blessed are the peace makers.   Please give generously as we promote peace in Anne Arundel County.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet with several of you very briefly last month. Thank you for the conversation ad the opportunity to answer people's questions about our work at the Latin American Biblical University and about what is happening in Central America.

Flowers for Worship Service
Blow upon my garden that its fragrance may be wafted abroad.
-Song of Solomon 4:16
The Ark and Dove flower team takes donations not only for Easter and Christmas but year-round. You may add to the Sunday worship, anytime, with flowers. You may bring your own (made by yourself or a florist) or donate, and have the flower team create an arrangement in your name/cause. These donations could be for a graduation, birthday, anniversary or maybe just an arrangement to say, I love you. Also, if you like to do arrangements (or just like flowers) the Flower Team can always use fresh ideas and contributions. Please contact Paula Griggs at 443-510-6687 or paulagriggs32@gmail.com or feel free to fill out the flower contribution form on the bulletin board.
