We offer innovative solutions to assist businesses with their success in today's highly competitive workforce while providing the tools job seekers need to find or advance in their current career.

The UPS Store in Las Cruces participated in New Mexico Workforce Connection's On-the-Job Training program. The program reimburses employee wages during training. The UPS Store trained 10 employees in 2020 and received a total of $118,479.60 in wage reimbursements.
|
|
The Youth Program offers eligible youth the opportunity to gain paid work experience with a participating employer in your community. Ms. Padilla gained work experience at Roots Counseling in Truth or Consequences, NM.

Funds Invested by Program

The WIOA Adult & Dislocated Worker programs funded by the Southwestern Area Workforce Development Board provide individuals with career and participant training services that lead to obtaining credentials and work experience for career opportunities. The New Mexico Workforce Connection centers offer the services year around.

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.5 percent in November 2020, down from 8.1 percent in October and up from 4.8 percent in the previous year. The national unemployment rate in November was 6.7 percent, down from 6.9 percent in October and up from 3.5 percent in November 2019.

The New Mexico Labor Market Review (LMR) presents the most up-to-date labor market highlights and happenings. The LMR is produced and published monthly and includes data on the labor force, jobs, and unemployment for the state and select substate areas.

BLS State Employment and Unemployment (Monthly) News Release: November 2020
|
In November, unemployment rates were lower in 25 states and the District of Columbia, higher in 7 states, and stable in 18 states. Nonfarm payroll employment increased in 17 states, decreased in 3 states, and was essentially unchanged in 30 states and the District.

BEA News: Personal Income and Outlays
November 2020

Personal income decreased 1.1 percent while consumer spending decreased 0.4 percent in November as federal economic recovery payments and pandemic-related assistance programs continued to wind down.
