The world of work has been changing considerably in recent years, and employment staff now face new challenges and opportunities as they support people to find and keep jobs of their choice.

This brief (30 minutes) module locates the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach to employment within our current realities. It is meant to augment, and not replace, CPI’s three current IPS-related modules: Introduction to IPS, Job Development, and Using the Employment Resource Book.

• Online/remote practices for finding a job
• Online/remote employment opportunities
• The gig economy
• Self-employment and entrepreneurship
• Youth culture
• Artificial intelligence and employment

By the end of this module, learners will be able to:

• Describe the core principles and practices of IPS and the research evidence supporting it,
• Identify important changes in the employment landscape, including emerging and non-traditional job types, job search trends, and changing attitudes towards work, and
• Recognize how these changes affect employment specialists’ work and what to keep in mind to better support individuals

The module is accredited for 0.5 CASAC/CPP/CPS, Continuing Medical Education, and Continuing Nursing Education credits.
