Mindset: The TRANSITION
Transition and Transformation:
In our ongoing endeavor to have FOCUS, we must learn how to transition without losing the ability to serve our functioning purpose with FOCUS that can adapt and transFORM through transitions. This Month we are transitioning into discovering the power and purpose of our FUNCTION- functioning roles, functional fitness, functioning health, functional Life.

In Pilates the transition is always the test. It’s the space between one's ability to maintain stability while executing fluid mobility in the smooth and seamless transfer of connecting to one's grounding strength while trusting in the foreseeable extending length . The parallelism of the mind and body is truly indistinguishable. What happens in the mind first is executed in and through the body and what is felt in the body becomes a guide for the mind. There is no separation, just simple synchronicity.

When we move from the analytical to the intuitive embodiment of mind, body and spirit we fully transform into the magical space of transition which allows the almost effortless flow from one space to the next without losing our connection to self; mind, body and spirit.

Practically speaking in the transition of movement from one leg or arm to another the core serves as a balancing force of stability so that the mobility between each side becomes a dance of grace in the balance of the push and pull, strength and length, grit and grace. And the small and subtle space between is the sacred space of awareness we call…. BREATH.

The harmonic unity of each movement within each inhale and exhale becomes the dynamic transition from movement and mindfulness with the embodiment of mind, body and spirit throughout.

This purity of movement and mindfulness comes with an appreciation for the opportunity to go deeper through the intention of connection between the mind, body and spirit without the need for any or more tension to “feel” the work. The inner space of connection becomes all you need to feel your strongest from the inside out.

The embodiment of mind, body, soul and spirit awareness is not only one’s greatest strength but greatest gifts to give the world. Self awareness and the working, functioning ability to maintain a grounding sense of responsiveness that comes from the connection of the mind, body and sporty allows us to execute the mobility we want from the stability we are in our mind, body and spirit alignment and this is the difference of success in the transitory spaces of life.

This my friend is the transformation of transition.
WHAT I AM LISTENING TO THIS WEEK...
The Body Keeps the ScoreBrain, Mind and Body in the healing of trauma by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD

As a healer, I see and understand the truth of trapped trauma, emotions and experiences in our bodies; and have experienced my own as well! One thing I’ve noticed more than anything as I work with people is that what shows on the surface as an injury, pain or problem most often is associated with some root level trauma that hides in the body, until it can hide no more. Throughout the journey of healing there is no separation of the mind and body. To truly heal the body whether it be in strengthening, lengthening or mobilizing there is usually some inflammation that is the result of feeling trapped, restricted, limited, confused, unworthy, hurt emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Ultimately this always comes out…. Our bodies tell our stories…

WHAT I AM LOVING RIGHT NOW...
The transition of my boys becoming young men. This week my 3 boys and husband returned from a life changing hunting adventure in Mexico on a few different ranches. They have been blessed with the opportunity to work with JAY SCOUT OUTDOORS as guides for coues deer. They were very successful and “learned more in 3 weeks than a whole year of school” according to Garrett Mercer. These are the moments as a mom I see the fruit of my labor and join in on the celebration of the harvest. I love the time and conversations that we share about the important things in life as they begin to see the world through a bigger lens and light. I am loving me and my boy time…
WHAT I AM LEARNING...
The patience of surrendering in the process and appreciating little steps.
Navigating through current technology, streaming and social media platforms to share my message is quite honestly daunting. I am enjoying learning how to use a MEVO camera to do my video, editing and live video interface. It's been challenging and mind blowing all at the same time. I am simple and minimal at heart but my vision is not minimal to say the least, so I’m hopeful that little tools like this help!
LIFESTYLE HACK OF THE WEEK...
Prepare for the next morning. Coffee, clothes and clean house.

Before I go to bed I have the water prepped to boil for french pressed coffee, a plan for what I will wear and a clutter free living room and kitchen. I can maximize the most sacred time of my day when I wake up and set the tone and direction of my day without the clutter and the sense of accomplishment and productivity right away. This is my way of getting more out of the silence and stillness before the “storms” of the day; a time to prepare, not pick up and a clean. A uncluttered space is much more inviting and energizing for peace and a preparation for productivity.
MY FAVORITE TOOL THIS WEEK...
LIGHT THERAPY!
Almost 3 years ago I discovered the power of light therapy and it has literally changed my life and those that I’ve had the opportunity to share it with!

Lately I have been enjoying more uphill and downhill skiing than normal and I’ve had a knee “talking” to me a bit. After 2 sessions with the lights it's 99% better!

Learn from the experts on a very special webinar coming in February from one of my very own friends who experienced a major life altering TBI from a ski accident who discovered light therapy along the way. It’s an amazing story you won't want to miss!
MY FAVORITE MOVE THIS WEEK...
Check out my new YouTube Video on how to do a push-up correctly... This is the most functional exercise but a lot of the times it is not taught properly! Check out my quick 5 minute guide to the perfect push-up down below!

OUR FIRESIDES Podcast this week...
Join us in February as we go deeper into FUNCTION. We will have our 3 teenage boys joining us as we discuss just how they are functioning in today’s world and the unique challenges they face as well as their understanding of life and how to stay motivated and focused on your function and purpose in this world when it seems like everyone is struggling to find where and how they can succeed in life, finance, work and relationships.

Join us on Thursdays when we release our podcast of the week here!
