New Class One Path to Enhance Safety and Accessibility on State Route 273 in Redding

REDDINGCaltrans District 2 is pleased to announce the installation of a new multi-use path along State Route 273 in Redding, California. This innovative project aims to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists by providing a dedicated path alongside the existing roadway. The project will involve restriping the existing road and reducing it from two lanes to one, with the additional lane being repurposed for the Class One Path.

The new multi-use path will stretch from Wyndham Lane to Buenaventura Lane, offering a secure and separated route for non-motorized transportation. This development comes in response to the growing demand for alternative transportation options and the need for enhanced connectivity in the community.

By dedicating a lane exclusively to pedestrians and cyclists, the new multi-use path will significantly improve safety for all road users and provide a protected space separated from vehicular traffic.

This project also aligns with Caltrans and the City of Redding’s broader commitment to promoting active and sustainable transportation. Reducing the road to one lane will not only create a safer environment for cyclists and pedestrians but also encourage more people to choose walking or cycling as viable options for their daily commutes or recreational activities.

Efforts will be made to ensure efficient traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to motorists during installation.

Work is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 11 and is expected to be completed by Monday, June 12, weather permitting. Caltrans encourages residents and commuters to stay updated on project developments through our official channels and exercise caution while traveling through the area.

Representatives from Caltrans and Healthy Shasta will be available for interviews on Thursday, June 8. Please contact Public Information Officer Mario Montalvo to schedule. Photos of the area are also available by clicking here.
