Hello Friend,

Tomorrow, Florida's revised Nonprofit Corporation Act becomes effective, representing the most significant update to Chapter 617 in many years.

While many nonprofits won't need immediate changes, nearly every organization should review its governing documents, board practices, and governance policies over the coming months.

Rather than viewing this as simply another compliance requirement, I believe it presents an excellent opportunity to strengthen governance, improve board effectiveness, and position organizations for future growth.

I've written this brief article highlighting five governance conversations every Florida nonprofit board should begin having this summer.

Florida's New Nonprofit Law is Here: Is Your Board Ready?

I want to be sure clients and other nonprofit organizations in Florida take the opportunity to review your bylaws and governance policies and board practices. If you'd like help, or would like me to connect you with a legal professional to review your current documents, please reach out.

If you'd like assistance reviewing your bylaws, governance policies, or board practices, I'd be happy to help.

Warm regards,

Tracy Connelly, CFRE

APC Summer Forum Provides Glimpse into the Future of Philanthropy

Last week, I had the privilege of participating as a panelist at the Association of Philanthropic Counsel (APC) Summer Forum in Indianapolis, joining some of the nation's leading philanthropic consultants to discuss emerging trends and best practices shaping our profession.

One of the commitments I make to my clients is to continually invest in learning so I can bring the latest insights, research, and strategies back to the organizations I serve.

This year's Forum explored several timely topics, including:

  • People-Centered AI: Ethical considerations and practical applications for nonprofit organizations and their advisors
  • Giving USA 2025: What the latest national philanthropic trends mean for fundraising success
  • The One Big Beautiful Bill Act: Understanding potential implications for charitable giving and donor behavior
  • The Future of Fundraising: Emerging trends that will influence how nonprofits build donor relationships and sustain philanthropy in the years ahead

The conversations were thoughtful, practical, and highly relevant to today's nonprofit leaders. I'm already incorporating many of these ideas into my work with clients.

If you'd like a summary of these insights—or would like to discuss how these trends may impact your organization—I'd be delighted to connect.
