Volunteers will collaborate with HMTU faculty to review the CBC curriculum and provide consultation on how to improve the CBC self-study, teaching and assessment guidelines. HVO volunteers will also provide lectures and clinical training based on topics outlined by HMTU. In order to help advance the skills of the HMTU faculty as educators, volunteers will model various teaching methodologies through their lectures and provide continuing education workshops to develop the teaching skills of HMTU faculty .

HVO’s nursing education projects are supported by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) .
Volunteers must have a current license to practice in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK or Western Europe. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher and 2-3 years of teaching experience in both a classroom and clinical setting is required. Health Volunteers Overseas is a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve global health through education of the local health workforce in resource-scarce countries. HVO volunteers build local capacity by empowering health care professionals with knowledge and skills to address the health care needs of their communities. HVO volunteers are trained health care professionals - physicians, nurses, dentists, physical therapists and others - willing to donate their time and expertise to work side-by-side with their colleagues overseas. Since 1986, HVO staff and volunteers have collaborated with a variety of health institutions to design, develop and implement each HVO project, working toward better patient care around the globe in trauma care, child and maternal health, essential surgery, cancer care, rehabilitation, and more.
