OLLI Spring 2025 Day Field Trip to Trappist Abbey

Description: We will travel by Sierra College bus or private auto (drive yourself) to the Chico area to the Trappist Catholic Order of the Abbey of Our Lady of New Clairvaux. OLLI Instructor Terry McAteer has arranged a private tour of the Abbey grounds to gain a greater understanding of the contemplative Cistercian Order of Monks and to see their incredible 12th Century Spanish Chapel purchased by William Randolph Hearst! At noon, we will join the monks for a 20-minute prayer session before enjoying a bag lunch (provided)-- you supply a drink. Following lunch, we will enjoy a five-wine fleet tasting of their award winning wines. The New Clairvaux Winery was named Winery of the Year at the California State Fair. You may purchase what you enjoyed at the winery.
