GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE
POWER INTEGRATED RESOURCE PLAN
The Power Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) is Pasadena’s long-range blueprint for supplying reliable and environmentally responsible electricity at competitive rates.

PWP wants your feedback on Pasadena's energy future! Help shape the 2023 IRP by completing our online survey.

Stakeholders interested in getting involved in the IRP planning process are invited to submit an application to join the Stakeholder Technical Advisory Group (STAG), a planning group comprised of approximately 15 residential and commercial customers, community leaders, City of Pasadena staff, and other stakeholders. The STAG assists PWP by providing valuable input and will help identify priorities for the 2023 IRP. Anyone interested in joining the STAG must be able to attend two-hour meetings every six weeks from October 2022 through April 2023. Submit an application online.
PWP URGES CONTINUED WATER CONSERVATION EFFORTS
Record dry weather is impacting California and creating severe drought conditions. With the drought persisting and conditions worsening, it is imperative for Pasadena residents and businesses to take the following steps:

  • Ensure compliance with the Level 2 Water Supply Shortage Plan as listed in the Pasadena Municipal Code (PMC) Section 13.10; more information about the plan and PMC can be found at PWPweb.com/Schedule.
  • Follow the Summer Outdoor Watering Schedule, which began April 1, and will continue through October. Outdoor watering must take place before 9 AM or after 6 PM, as follows: Even-numbered addresses water on Mondays and Thursdays, and odd-numbered addresses water on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Replace turf with drought-tolerant and California native plants, which use less water and are more resilient to heat and drought. Plus apply to receive a turf replacement rebate for up to $10,000.
  • Optimize irrigation systems by retrofitting to a drip irrigation system.
  • Repair all leaks and adjust sprinkler spray to avoid water waste.
  • Check the soil moisture around plants. Dig down a few inches to see if the soil is still holding moisture.
  • Update all water fixtures and appliances to high efficiency models, rebates available from PWP!

ATTEND THE SUNSET COMPLEX PROJECT
SCOPING MEETING ON APRIL 21
PWP is proposing to improve the water infrastructure located at the Sunset Reservoir. The Sunset Complex Project will replace the existing reservoirs with two circular concrete storage reservoirs that will be designed to current seismic standards. A new groundwater treatment plant will use ion exchange to remove perchlorate; liquid phase granular activated carbon to remove volatile organic compounds; and a disinfection system. This treatment system will allow PWP to utilize more of the City’s groundwater supply.

An Environmental Impact Report is being prepared for this project, and a draft initial study is posted online and is available for public review through May 9, 2022. Community members are encouraged to join PWP staff on Thursday, April 21 at 5:00 PM for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Scoping Meeting. The meeting will be held at Robinson Park Recreation Center located at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.
