New Online Texas Ranger Roster

A new online Texas Ranger Roster is available at the Texas Department of Public Safety website. Spring Break Round Up on March 15th

Please join us at the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum on Saturday, March 15th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for our annual Spring Break Round Up. Bring your family down to meet Texas Ranger reenactors and even hear from Texas Ranger Jack Gillentine. Activities are included with regular museum admission. Speaker is subject to change.

Texas Ranger Talks at 10:30AM and 2:00PM

Reenactors will be onsite from 10:00AM to 2:00PM

In the U.S. Army, Jack Gillentine deployed twice to Afghanistan and retired in 2013 at the rank of Major. He spent nearly 18 years as a police officer with the Portland Police Bureau in Oregon. There he worked as a patrolman, narcotics and vice investigator, and as a member of the major crash team. Gillentine joined Texas DPS in 2017 as a state trooper, and promoted to the Texas Rangers in 2021.

McGregor Joins Library Pass Program

The Texas Ranger Museum offers a family pass program through local libraries. The City of McGregor has joined the program. Residents may now go to McGinley Memorial Public Library to check out a family pass redeemable at the Museum for free admission.

This pass program is also available at all four branches of the Waco-McLennan County Library and the Hewitt Public Library.

TRHFM Family Reading Nook Turns One

Opened in February 2024, the public has embraced the new family reading nook. Based off the online “Story Time with Audrey” series that began in 2020, the room houses books that were featured on the children’s program. Parents enjoy the restful area. The books with their Texas and Western plots bring the mature nature of our exhibits to life for little ones.

We want to thank our generous donors for their contributions including those who shopped our book wish list on Amazon, Thrivent Financial, Jan Devereaux and Maggie Klitgaard. Mrs. Klitgaard, from the Baylor Informal Education class, helped to springboard the idea of transforming a larger closet space into the nook.

We hope you will enjoy this space on your next visit to TRHFM. Please see our YouTube channel to watch the original story time episodes.

Henry Middle School Visit

Henry Middle School in Leander ISD invited Audrey Ladd, Education Programs Manager, to speak to their 470 seventh grade students about Texas Ranger history. In seventh grade, students study Texas history and we were excited to bring that history to life. One student was equally excited to share that she was a descendent of Ranger Benjamin Franklin Gholson, who became a Texas Ranger in 1858.

Ranger Adcock Receives Excellence Award

Every year, DPS honors employees who display exceptional performance of duties throughout their careers with the William P. Clements Excellence Award. In February, Texas Ranger Michael Adcock (ret.) was honored with this award — a distinction given to employees who embody a commitment to excellence and public service.

Adcock began his career with DPS in 1977 as a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper. He would later promote to Criminal Investigations Division Sergeant and then to Texas Ranger, a position he held until his retirement in late 2024.

Throughout Adcock’s time at DPS, he played a pivotal role in many high-profile investigations, including the East Texas Church Fires, the murder investigation of former Texas Governor Bill Clements' son and the murder of a Kaufman County District Attorney and spouse. He served as lead investigator in the Campsite Murders and led a team in the digital crime scene documentation and reconstruction following the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs.

He served as a member of the Texas Rangers Major Crime Scene Response Team, Texas Rangers Crime Scene Working Group, Team Lead for the Texas Rangers Company "B" Crime Scene Team, the Officer-Involved Shooting Review Committee and the Assistant Team Lead for the Company "B" Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Program.

He has mentored Rangers and local investigators in countless instances, serving as the "go-to" resource for his command staff, local prosecutors, agency heads and Rangers all over the state. He has consistently displayed a commitment to excellence through his work and the development of other officers and Rangers through his mentorship.
