Colleagues and friends,

A few weeks ago, I called out the difference between solving problems versus tackling messes (systems of problems). I firmly believe that making the type of significant, durable change we imagine for learners and communities requires doing the latter.

Today, I’m excited to announce our Exponential Learning Initiative, a new opportunity for other organizations to join us in this work. With support from the Walton Family Foundation and research partner, Mathematica, we’re launching a networked effort to spur the adoption of and evidence for technology-supported innovations that accelerate learning.

This is one strand of a bigger body of TLA’s strategy to help school systems address urgent challenges while advancing towards a more resilient and equitable future. We can’t wait to collaborate on the critical work ahead.

Yours in partnership,

Beth Rabbitt, Chief Executive Officer (she/her)

Request for Applications: Accelerating Adoption Network

The Challenge.

Widespread, persistent gaps in K-12 learning remain one of the most urgent challenges to solve. It’s time to get serious about addressing them, with new tools and more durable and sustainable strategies to accelerate learning at the very core of student experience. Together, we can spur the adoption of evidence-based practices and system capabilities necessary for equity, today and in the future. Our kids deserve nothing less.

The Opportunity.

TLA is working to identify and fund up to 10 networks expanding adoption of promising, virtually-supported strategies in the 2024-25 school year. With our evaluation partner, we’ll be learning alongside grantees to generate evidence about efficacy as well as the conditions that support implementation and scale. Working across the broader field, we’ll connect efforts, disseminate learnings, and build a strong coalition for change.

The Call.

This is a unique opportunity for partners seeking to scale innovative strategies for accelerating learning for students farthest from opportunity. Grantees will:

  • Expand their impact
  • Access up to $150,000 in flexible grant support
  • Tap into rigorous research support to build understanding and independent evidence
  • Collaborate and problem-solve with a community of leaders
  • Build national awareness of their innovative work
  • Receive targeted support from TLA and our network of experts
