New Outlook on the Canadian Housing Market
The latest findings in the CMHC's Housing Market Outlook present an unprecedented forecast and preliminary account of COVID-19's impacts on the Canadian housing market. Forecasts for the remainder of 2020 include a 51% to 75% decrease in housing starts, a 19% to 29% decrease in housing sales and a 9% to 18% drop in housing prices from pre-COVID levels. A slow recovery in all three indicators is expected half way through 2021, but its exact timing and duration is uncertain.
