About Kirsten & Kenzel ...
A Laurelhurst neighborhood institution was sold to Kirsten and Kenzel Wilson of Whidbey Island on October 12th, 2016. The Wilsons grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have recently settled in the Laurelhurst neighborhood and they will be actively involved in the store operations.
Judith Gille, Dianne Casper and Sarah Brazeau three of the five owners since 1997, will be on hand for the next few months to help with the transition. The new owners have extensive experience in the retail sector. Mr. Wilson began his career at Nordstrom as a stock boy and was promoted over twenty six years to merchandising, store manager, and VP, Regional Manager for the Northwest division. The Wilson family then relocated to the Chicago area for ten years as he was the SVP, Regional Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue in Chicago. Ms. Wilson was with Costco for eighteen years in Operations leading to Warehouse Manager and Global distribution for Fine Jewelry and Watches.
The Wilsons are excited about the opportunity to own and manage the business and to carry on the City People's Mercantile tradition of providing a unique selection of quality merchandise and True Value hardware. "We love being on the floor, serving our customers and meeting our neighbors" says Kenzel and " We will continue to carry on the founder's goals of giving back to the community and we are planning some exciting events," says Kirsten.
