It is with utmost enthusiasm and great excitement that I announce a changing of the guard at EX2 Adventures.  At the end of this year, I will step down as race director and owner of EX2 Adventures and hand the reigns to an experienced race director, highly accomplished athlete, and friend, who will lead the EX2 community toward future adventures. 

I am pleased to introduce EX2's new race director and owner, Andy Bacon.  Andy's professional experience, extensive race resume, and race directing experiences are quite impressive.  But, as I have gotten to know Andy over the past 10 years, it's the intangible and unteachable that have impressed me the most - his emotional intelligence, his thoughtful and caring demeanor, his humility, his likability, and his leadership ability.  With Andy at the helm, I am 100% confident, that EX2 will thrive as he leads the EX2 Community in the creation of a new round of excellent experiences.

Andy has been part of the EX2 community since 2004 when he competed in his first EX2 event, the XTERRA EX2 Off-Road Triathlon.  Since then he has participated in almost every type of race EX2 has produced, from the Backyard Burn to the Cranky Monkey to VentureQuest.  He is married to another long-time EX2 racer, Kelly Bacon, and they have a daughter, Emily, who turns four this July.  Andy introduced his wife Kelly to EX2 back in 2009 and they spent several of their first dates at Blue Crab Bolts and Backyard Burns.

Andy is an accomplished adventure racer, trail runner, and mountain biker.  He has raced with some of the best adventure racers in the country and has competed in over 50 adventure races, most of which were 24-hour or multi-day events.  In 2014, he competed in the adventure racing world championship in Ecuador and is returning to the AR world championship again this August.

In addition to being a long-time racer, Andy has excellent experience as a race director, course designer, and business owner as he co-founded an adventure racing company and promoted events from 2012 to 2015.

Andy believes in the EX2 mission, loves being a member of the EX2 community, and has a passion for creating positive, life changing experiences.  He will spend the rest of this year working EX2 events and learning our operations, and then will take over EX2 beginning in 2018.

For the past 17 years, Kimberly and I have seen EX2 grow into a sustainable small business intent on changing the world, one race at a time.  As the leaders of EX2, we have witnessed amazing things happen at our races - so many new friendships have emerged, personal accomplishments have been realized, and a whole lot of fun has been had along the way. 

We are going to miss the EX2 community immensely, but we are ready for new adventures and, while we have not yet decided which path we will take, we are looking forward to the journey.
