January's African-American Book Club Pick: The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin - January 26
Next up in the AAL Book Club series: James Baldwin's "The Fire Next Time."

The book is at once a powerful evocation of James Baldwin's early life in Harlem and a disturbing examination of the consequences of racial injustice.

The AAL Book Club is for anyone interested in reading and discussing African American literature, both fiction and nonfiction, as well as sharing information and learning about the African American experience.

The AAL Book Club meets monthly on Zoom on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

Built by performing in Philly, NYC, and Hartford, the locally based Andrew Wilcox Sextet plays a mix of great tunes from lesser known jazz musicians from the 1970s and 1980s and Wilcox's original compositions. The result is a unique and unforgettable sound, with swinging grooves and spacy melodies. With a nod to the progressive jazz musicians of the past, the Andrew Wilcox Sextet makes jazz that is not to be missed.
