Partnership Announcements

The BCHF is excited to announce the continuing support of our great partners, the BC Hotel Association and the Tourism Industry Association of BC for the next three years.

These partnerships signify the strategic collaboration between key entities within British Columbia's Hotel and Tourism industries who understand the crucial role that the BCHF plays by being a reliable source of critical financial support to the hospitality and tourism workers when facing a health challenge by contributing to the overall well-being and resilience of their workers.

Beneficiary Update

Applications for support continue to come in and our dedicated Beneficiary Liaison and Beneficiary Reviewing Committee strive to focus on the extraordinary financial need that applicants require to be able to work on their recovery.

To date, $13,010 have been granted to hospitality workers that are recovering from cancer treatments to fractured bones. Shortfall funds are provided while government benefits kick in or they are ready to return to work.

We are making a difference in peoples' lives thanks to your support.

Legacy Culinary Scholarship Applications

The Chef Nik Lim Scholarship was created to honour the memory of Chef Nik Lim. Nessa Van Bergen and Chef Dino Renaerts initiated the scholarship as a tribute to their colleague, One of the brightest lights on Vancouver’s culinary scene who passed away in July 2019 at a young age. This is ONE yearly scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

This $1,500 scholarship is open ONLY to BC residents accepted into the 6 month Culinary Arts or one year Diploma at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts.

Whoever received this scholarship should have the same passion and work ethic as Greg King.

The $1,000 Legacy Scholarship was created by Gia’s family to honour her aspiration for Culinary Arts and her love for food. Gia’s family is extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue her legacy by honouring students in the Culinary Arts.

Many friends across the country and her best friend and husband, Brian, have honoured Chef Valerie Soon by creating a $1,000 culinary scholarship for young, under-privileged women who are passionate about cooking.

Industry Scholarship Applications

This $1,000 scholarship was created to support children of hospitality industry workers as they pursue their own careers in hospitality

The Hospitality 2SLGBTQ2+ AND Indigenous Hospitality Scholarships are sponsored by private donors in the British Columbia hospitality community. It is an opportunity for these students to increase their knowledge of the hospitality industry in BC through further education.

Congratulations!

Thank you very much to Dawn Donahue who coordinates the judges that select the winners of the Tony Ryan Legacy and Wine Professional scholarships, as well as a big thank you to all the judges!
