Understanding Our Place in the Wilderness

“Towering aspens remind us of the true meaning of connectivity, as all the trees you see in this picture are really one cohesive system. They could show us the way to live in harmony, if only we could learn what the eyes within their bark are trying to tell us.”

The most recent update from the field comes from Colorado Plateau student Sam Ryan, who explores the meaning of "wilderness" as we know it in modern society, and how he has found himself becoming more connected to the land during his course this spring. Sam reflects on how both the course material and the natural world have contributed to this, and how life might look different once he returns to his "normal" life.

As Colorado Plateau officially comes to an end, we encourage you to read Sam's full post, as well as those from his classmates. Thank you for supporting these students on their journey.

"WRFI encouraged an incredible space to grow my perspective on the land while making so many amazing memories with amazing people. Being able to work alongside likeminded people and talk with passionate professionals really helped me gain new perspectives and explore my passions. WRFI was the best choice of my life! "
