Puente Gives Back
Over the past month, Chabot's Puente Club students have collected over 30 bags and over 300 items to donate to California farm workers. This exceeds the club's goal of collecting 200 sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, and blankets!
These items were delivered to an organization in San Jose, which will deliver the items directly to farm workers throughout the California Central Valley and Salinas Valley agricultural areas.

This marks the Puente Club's first activity since the pandemic began, and we are exciting to see students eager to give back to the community.

Cross Country Gladiator, Jacob Lawrence, Places 3rd at CA State Championships
Congratulations to Chabot Cross Country freshman Jacob Lawrence (Amador Valley HS), who placed 3rd at the California State Championships the weekend of November 20th at Woodward Park in Fresno.
Lawrence's 3rd place finish is the best finish in Chabot College history dating back to Ted Quintana placing 5th in 1974. Bravo, Gladiators!

Quick Tips to Restart and Refresh
Do you ever catch yourself feeling a bit sluggish while working on a task as the weather turns cooler? Even extremely productive and inspired periods of work can benefit from a short break.

Consider taking a moment to restart and refresh! Rachel Robert's (2021) article "How to Beat the Blahs on Sluggish Days" provides some quick tips, summarized below.
  • Talk a walk. - Take a moment to move away from your work, get the oxygen flowing, and come back refreshed.
  • Chew gum. - This can help bring alertness to a sluggish day.
  • Watch what you eat. - Avoid the sugar crash by snacking on high protein foods and hydrating with water.
  • Just start writing. - Even if it's not perfect, starting the task or jotting down notes can help generate ideas.
  • Seek outside inspiration. - Catch a podcast or listen to music for a bit of inspiration before diving into a difficult task.
