Celebrate ESF's December Graduates

Commencement exercises next Friday, Dec. 8 in Hendricks Chapel will be the culmination of ESF’s weeklong celebration of our December graduates and all they’ve accomplished. Be sure to check out the schedule of events and join in the receptions, awards ceremonies, and festivities!

Deck the Halls with a Tree from Heiberg Forest

Cut your own Christmas tree at the Heiberg Forest Christmas Tree Hill (7393 Maple Ridge Rd., Tully) and celebrate the holidays with a little ESF in your home!

 

Trees will be sold on weekends 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Dec. 2 and through Dec. 17 Bring your own saw or borrow one on-site. The Forest Properties elves will also wrap your tree and help load it in or on your vehicle. Maple syrup and wreaths will also be available for purchase.

 

Cut-your-own trees (any species, any size) are $40 and wreaths are $20-$40, cash or check only.

Submit an Abstract for STRATUS 2024

Abstracts are being accepted for the Systems and Technologies for Remote Sensing Applications Through Unmanned Aerial Systems (STRATUS) 2024 Conference to be held at ESF May 20-22, 2024. 


The emergence of low-cost and easy-to-use drones has led to an expansion of their use for numerous applications. These new platforms have enabled new imaging and earth remote sensing technologies and applications previously unavailable due to the high cost of manned aircraft or satellites. STRATUS brings together international academics, government, industry representatives, and domain specialists to share perspectives on this rapidly evolving topic.

Registration for the 2023 December Soiree is open until 6 p.m. Dec. 8. The Soiree is the annual event to celebrate the end of the semester and our December graduates.

Donate Your Extra Mugs to the ESF Cafés

Do you have too many mugs taking up cupboard space? Donate your excess dishwasher-safe mugs and travel mugs to Moon and Trailhead cafés to help promote sustainability and reduce waste.


Bring them to the Trailhead Café register through Dec. 1 and give that mug you won at a conference a new life!

Nominate an Unsung Hero for MLK Award

Do you know individuals in the Central New York community who have made a positive difference in the lives of others, but who are not widely recognized for their efforts? The Unsung Hero Award, presented by Syracuse University celebrates individuals or community groups who exemplify the spirit, life, and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. but have not received widespread recognition for or been previously honored for their efforts. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.


Awards are granted to people in the following categories:

  • Youth (age 18 or younger)
  • Community member ​(age 18 or older)
  • Student currently enrolled at ESF or Syracuse University
  • ESF or Syracuse University faculty or staff
