In this special edition: New horizons for the Green Initiative, our new Prescribing for Impact resource, and a new green Medical Interest Group.

Sun below "our New Horizons"

We interrupt our normal Summer hiatus for news and opportunities to get involved with the Green Initiative! Due to changing life circumstances, Dr. Meghan Davis and Tatiana Gayowsky are stepping down from their roles as Green Initiative Lead and Project Manager. This has been a hard decision for both Meghan and Tia, but a necessary one as Meghan takes on a greater caregiving role for her mother and Tia starts a new adventure at medical school at Queen's University in Kingston!

Hamilton Family Health Team (HFHT) is eager to see the powerful, groundbreaking work of the Green Initiative continue and expand. HFHT is actively recruiting for a Family Physician Lead and a Transformational Lead. Consider applying, whether you are affiliated with HFHT or not! The hope is to expand the project’s scope to include increased community engagement and to support the exploration of transforming the HFHT Green Initiative into an independently incorporated Centre of Excellence.

Visit HFHT's Careers page to see the postings and apply!

"Working with Meghan and the HFHT on the Green Initiative has united two of my great passions–environmental sustainability and human health– but also taught me so much about what it means to build a community. I’ve been so motivated by the energy, ideas, and commitment of everyone who contributed to the program, whether that’s completing a post-webinar action plan or creating a whole new patient-facing education group. I will take this model of engagement and approach to patient care with me to medical school at Queen’s this September and throughout my career. I’m so excited to see what’s next for the Green Initiative, and will be watching and cheering the team on from Kingston!"

~Tia Gayowsky, Green Initiative Project Manager 2021-2023

Our Prescribe for Impact webinar, presented in Spring 2023, was the last in our series. Based on the content of this well-received webinar, we have created a comprehensive, evidence-based background guide for this topic, which includes questions to ask yourself before prescribing. We hope you find it a useful resource for judicious prescribing!
