Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) has added a new ReCoverCA Homebuyer Assistance (HBA) Workshop in Watsonville, California to help residents of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties impacted by the 2023 floods learn how to qualify for up to $300,000 in forgivable homebuyer assistance toward the purchase of a home in a safer area.
This free community workshop will cover:
- How the ReCoverCA HBA Program works
- Eligibility requirements and income limits
- Qualifying property types
- Steps to get started
The ReCoverCA HBA Program, administered by GSFA and funded by HUD through the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), offers forgivable loans up to $300,000 to help eligible renters and previous homeowners who lived in flood-impacted areas purchase homes in lower-risk communities — specifically outside of special flood hazard zones and high fire-risk areas.
During the first 60 days of the application period (November 10, 2025 – January 12, 2026), priority will be given to households that can demonstrate they were directly impacted by flood events.
