The cumulative total of CARES Act grants awarded or committed to Orange County arts organizations has now exceeded $900,000.
Arts Orange County's Leadership Role
Arts Orange County has vigorously advocated for the eligibility of nonprofit arts organizations to apply for and receive these grants on the basis that all are small businesses that contribute importantly to the local economy and are suffering as a direct result of the COVID-19 shutdown, that federal CARES Act guidelines permitted it, and that other localities around the nation were doing so.
Additionally, ArtsOC was active in the successful national advocacy efforts to include relief funds for distribution through the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities, which benefited 7 Orange County organizations.
