INTRODUCTION

Mission: University Area CDC is a 501(c)3 public/private partnership whose mission is children and family development, crime prevention and commerce growth. Its primary focus is the redevelopment and sustainability of areas surrounding the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.

Vision: University Area CDC is a change agent fostering collaborations with community partners to both advocate for and address the needs of University Area residents, families and businesses to safely grow and prosper for years to come.

Neighborhood Transformation: In continuation of our commitment to our service area, University Area CDC is building a neighborhood where families get their start. We built a 7-acre park in the heart of the community for residents to have a safe place to exercise, garden, fish, and play with their children.

We also developed a land banking program to acquire property throughout the University Area. Through our land banking strategy, we have secured 23 properties for redevelopment. Four of those properties are contiguous lots adjacent to Harvest Hope Park and are earmarked for a mixed-use development.

The redevelopment project is located at 1916 E. 136th Avenue, and 1920 E 136th Avenue Tampa FL. The site is adjacent to Harvest Hope Park, and within walking distance to the University Area Community Center.

PROJECT DETAILS

Existing Structure Rehabilitation:

Exterior and interior renovation of a pre-engineered metal building (to be named, “The Warehouse”) to support its transformation into a versatile, multi-use facility to be owned and operated by the University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc.

In addition to the Project Owner and GC, construction administration will be overseen by Traction Architecture and Native Engineering, two firms with extensive experience in delivering high-quality, community-driven projects.

  • Updated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to accommodate programmatic needs.
  • Building contractor responsible for minor sitework to include: bringing in utilities to be stubbed out for future site contractor, sidewalk and pads around building to tie into civil site plan to be coordinated with architect and engineering team.

Once complete, the 4,800 sq. ft. space will serve as a hub for small meetings, large gatherings, co-working areas, and community programming, offering a flexible environment for University Area CDC and its partners. *The contractor must reference and execute all permitted construction drawings, including:
