Bond Referendum fails; School Boards from Districts 1 and 8 to meet March 26

News Release - The Williston Public School District #1 School Board is meeting with Williams County Public School District #8 to discuss various issues on Monday, March 26, 7-8 p.m. at the Williston Area Recreation Center. Summit Counseling seeks to open Residential Treatment Facility near Williston - It's been a big dream of Brenda Owen's for quite some time. A decade, in fact-bringing a residential treatment facility to the Williston area. "We've had a number of individuals tells us when you've got something let us know. And we think we've got something," says Owen. Just last week, Summit Counseling, based in Williston, signed a contract for a 40-room facility located in McKenzie County. The counseling service now has 90 days to secure financing for the $300,000 purchase price, which is below the building's market value.
Western Area Water Supply to serve New Airport, Missouri Ridge School
News Release - The Western Area Water Supply Authority (WAWSA) is getting ready for another big construction season, including two high profile projects.  As soon as the weather allows construction crews to get started this spring, work will begin on the installation of about nine miles of pipeline to serve the new Missouri Ridge School and Williston Basin International Airport. Williston Resident raising Funds for Fireworks Show

But last year, the CVB announced it would not be having one. So the "Save the 4th of July" campaign began. "I think we as a Fourth of July celebration always need that visual celebration. Miss North Dakota Scholarship Pageant June 7-9 in Williston; Miss America to participate
Miss America 2018 Cara Mund will return to Williston to be a part of the 2018 Competition from June 7-9, 2018.
News Release - Preliminary Competitions will take place on June 6th and 7th with the crowning of Miss North Dakota 2018 on June 9th. The crowning of Miss North Dakota's Outstanding's Teen 2018 will be held on June 8th. The winners selected at these pageants will go on to represent North Dakota at the Miss America and Miss America's Outstanding Teen Competitions. North Dakota's Out-migration cools
Bismarck Tribune - State Census Director Kevin Iverson said he expects northwest North Dakota's period of out-migration has run its course, based on demographic and economic indicators. The census estimates from the year that ended last July 1 that were released March 21 reflect a continued effect from the slowing of oil activity in the Bakken, at least in some areas. The population of Williams County declined nearly 2.5 percent, although Mountrail and McKenzie counties each saw a bit of an increase.   Read More
Burgum to tour Downtown Dickinson April 4
Gov. Burgum will tour Downtown Dickinson on April 4 as part of his Main Street Initiative.
Dickinson Press - Gov. Doug Burgum will be touring downtown Dickinson and its renaissance zone as part of his Main Street ND Initiative on April 4. Dickinson joined the MSI in February. The program provides resources and guidelines to help create vibrant downtown areas and represents a unified effort across the state. The visit is being hosted by the City of Dickinson and Dickinson Downtown Association. "It's a great opportunity for our downtown to connect with the state and to take advantage of his Main Street Initiative," Kristi Schwartz, DDA president, said. "I think it's going to benefit Dickinson as a whole." Read More

Volunteers are invited to pick up trash Saturday morning. Supplies will be available at Davidson Park. A free lunch for volunteers will begin at 11 a.m.

05/08 ------ Sloulin Redevelopment Project - Williston Meeting
The public is invited to learn about the Master Plan for the project. The meeting will feature keynote Gov. Doug Burgum, City of Williston leaders and representatives from the project's key partnerships. The free program will run from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center.

Potential and current retailers are invited to the free summit from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center. More details TBA.

05/09 ------ State of the City Address
Williston Mayor Howard Klug will deliver his State of the City Address at 12 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center. A light lunch will be served from 11:15-11:45 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, however, space is limited. Plan to arrive early.

05/09 ------ WED/SBDC Awards Banquet
Williston Economic Development and the Small Business Development Center will celebrate the accomplishments of its 2018 award winners. The social hour will be begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the awards ceremony. Registration TBA. 
07/10-12 ------ ND Water Resource Districts Association's Summer Meeting
The 2018 North Dakota Water Resource Districts Association's annual summer meeting will be held at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center.
