Eatonton Main Street will be hosting the Downtown Open: A Mini-Golf Event on Saturday, September 10th at the Eatonton City Center Stage. The fee to sponsor a mini-golf hole is $25 per mini-golf hole, and you can sponsor more than one mini-golf hole. City of Eatonton: The City of Eatonton has the following employment opportunities available. Click on the job title for more information about the position. 
  • Natural Gas Technician: This individual assists in the installation and repair of gas lines in Putnam and Jones Counties. The selected individual must be able to operate heavy equipment such as backhoes and bushhogs, must have pipe fitting knowledge and have some basic knowledge of natural gas. 
  • Police Officer: This position responds to the Chief of Police and is responsible for general police work involving the protection of life and property, preserving the peace, enforcement of laws and ordinances, investigation of crime, and performing other related assignments and activities.
  • Public Works General Laborer: The selected individual must be capable of performing routine maintenance of City streets and public areas.

Leadership Putnam Nominations Now Open
The Board of Directors, President and Staff of the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce along with the Leadership Putnam Board is pleased to announce, that nominations for the Leadership Putnam Class of 2023 are now open!

What's Leadership Putnam?
Started by the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce in 1990, Leadership Putnam strives to empower and encourage a diverse group of existing and emerging leaders that are prepared and committed to serving Eatonton and Putnam. The program provides opportunities for individuals to enhance their civic knowledge of Eatonton and Putnam, hone their leadership skills, and network with leaders across the community. Leadership Putnam provides a hands-on educational experience with emphasis on economic development and community awareness, focusing on the interdependencies between sectors of the local economy, as well as the interrelationships of a variety of local issues. Participants will receive a better understanding of how our community works, will build relationships with the region's leaders, and will be inspired to apply their talents to serve the community.

Summer Camps at The Plaza Arts Center
Camp Broadway: For rising 3rd – 8th graders. Campers will explore acting, song, and dance combined with theatre games that hone acting skills and how to engage as an ensemble member. The camp will culminate with a performance for family and friends at the end of the week.

Art Camp: For rising 1st – 5th graders. Campers will create new projects daily ranging from basket weaving to painting. There will be lots of outdoor time spent making art in nature.

The Brickhouse Pub & Grub Has Opened
The Brickhouse Pub & Grub has opened at 114 N. Jefferson Avenue. The restaurant serves a selection of wings, burgers, sandwiches, and more. Live entertainment begins at 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday evenings. The restaurant is open Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00am until 11:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 11:00am until 12:00am, and Sunday from 10:00am until 6:00pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Godspell at The Plaza Arts Center
June 30-July 1, 2022

About Godspell: A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty doses of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.

Boasting a score with chart topping songs, a book by a visionary playwright (John-Michael Tebelak) and a feature film, Godspell is a sensation that continues to touch audiences. Because of its small technical demands and minimal cast size, it has become a staple of theatre companies, large and small.

Join us for an introduction to Zentangle! Zentangle is a drawing method using pens and paper designed to release your creativity and increase mindfulness and focus. Learn about the easy, low-cost method to express your inner artist, change up your crafting, and provide stress relief.

What is a Zentangle?
The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves, and orbs. These simple shapes are the “Elemental Strokes” in all Zentangle art.

Supplies to be Provided: Instructor will provide all supplies needed for starting your Zentangle journey.

Scratchboard Class at The Artisans Village Art Gallery

We will explore the fine art medium of scratchboard from “scratch” – not a kit. Barbara will explain the history of scratchboard and how it has evolved into an exciting fine art medium. She will introduce students to the tools, techniques and materials used to create scratchboard. Students will be working on exercises trying out techniques and then complete a project in class using step-by-step, one-on-one instruction.

Meet the Author at the Georgia Writers Museum

Victoria Wilcox is Founding Director of Georgia’s Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House Museum (the antebellum home of the family of Doc Holliday, now a site on the National Register of Historic Places), where she learned the family’s untold stories of their legendary cousin. Her work with the museum led to two decades of original research, making her a nationally recognized authority on the life of Doc Holliday. 

She is the author of the documentary film, In Search of Doc Holliday, and the award-winning historical novel trilogy, Southern Son: The Saga of Doc Holliday, for which she twice received Georgia Author of the Year honors and in 2016 was named Best Historical Western Novelist by True West Magazine. She has lectured across the country, appeared in local and regional media, guested on NPR affiliates, and was featured in the Fox Network series, Legends & Lies: The Real West. She is a member of the Western Writers of America, the Wild West History Association, the Historical Novel Society, and the Writer’s Guild of the Booth Museum of Western Art, and has been a featured contributor to True West Magazine. In the summer of 2017, she joined actor Val Kilmer (Tombstone) as guest historian at the inaugural “Doc HolliDays” in Tombstone, Arizona, site of the legendary OK Corral gunfight.
