BUILDING MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS
You are never too old for a game night. Taboo can get quite competitive when playing with HR, IT, Sales, Environmental, Education and Healthcare professionals and college students. Regular social and professional development events keep our alumni connected and engaged.
BRINGING LIFE SCIENCE TO REAL LIFE
STEM exploration is not limited to the Baltimore area. Building STEPS high school juniors traveled to Rockville, MD to visit MilliporeSigma, a global life science and technology company, learning about pharmaceutical development and manufacturing. Students used a pipette and food coloring to batch test for quality control, toured the facility and engaged with a panel of scientists and professionals. Onsite career exploration can be the first step to students’ newfound career aspirations.
COLLEGE PREP STARTS EARLY
College Exploration and Enrichment Day, hosted at the Towson University StarTUp at the Armory, introduced the pilot high school juniors to the college application process and the importance of college fit. You’d be surprised how much they learned competing for acceptance to Building STEPS University!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
NETWORK EXPERIENCE 2023
MARCH 23, 2023
Through volunteer engagement, our high school seniors learn the language and social cues for a professional introduction. Network Experience incorporates two activities: (1) elevator pitch exchange between students and volunteers with several rotations to polish students' introduction and (2) mock college campus activity including real life scenarios for students to practice problem solving and self-advocacy. If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more, please contact Jennifer Descoteau: [email protected].
CHEERS TO THREE YEARS!
Three years of improved student recruitment, onboarding and first year experience, all thanks to Asia, Building STEPS Program Associate Outreach and Exploration. As a Building STEPS alum and Towson University graduate, Asia is uniquely positioned to create opportunities for shared STEM experiences. Happy three year anniversary to Asia! NONPROFITS WORKING TOGETHER
Launched by B.E.S.T (Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust), the First Generation Affinity Group's quarterly programs provide college support professionals with a breadth of information focused on Baltimore City students’ post-secondary success. Leveraging resources, these meetings create networking, partnership and collaboration opportunities around best practices in supporting first generation college students.
