New School Weekly Update

October 7 - 11, 2024

Welcome to your weekly source of updates, news, and reminders!

Science Night Out

We’re excited for our much-anticipated Science Night Out (SNO) event this Friday! This is always a student favorite—especially for those who love the excitement of an evening event or sleepover!

Though official registration has closed, we may still have limited spots available for the 6 PM to 10 PM portion or the overnight experience if a parent is chaperoning. If you missed the registration window and want your child to participate, please email info@montessoricenter.org.

For those already registered, detailed instructions for the evening and overnight itinerary will be sent out this week. Please note that at this time, childcare will not be available between the end of your child's regular or after-school programs and the start of the event. If we are able to offer this service, we will notify participants no later than Wednesday.

A huge thank you to our SNO parent and staff committee for all their hard work behind the scenes to bring this event to life!

Fall School Photos

We are excited to partner with Spoiled Rotten Photography for our Fall Rhythm and Blues Photography Set! This themed session adds a fun musical element to your child's fall memento.

There is no sitting fee or obligation to purchase; however, registration is required for your child to participate. Even if you register, there is no obligation to buy. The registration process helps us minimize unnecessary photo sessions.

If your child is bringing any special items or if you have specific requests, please let us know—our goal is to ensure that every session is a success!

Read-a-Thon!

The Paper Pie (formerly Usborne Books) Read-a-Thon begins Monday, October 7th. Packets were sent home on Friday with your student (please let us know if you did not receive this packet). The proceeds of the Read-a-Thon go toward free books for your child and their classroom. Keep on the lookout for additional information headed your way later this week!

Enter your Pledge Here!

Join the Reach for the Stars!! Read-a-Thon and ignite a love for reading while supporting literacy! The goal is for participants to read (or be read to) for 300 minutes over two weeks, which breaks down to just 30 minutes a day. By collecting pledges from family and friends (no door-to-door solicitation), participants can raise funds to purchase Usborne and Kane Miller books. This is a fantastic opportunity to encourage daily reading habits while earning new books for your collection! Let’s reach for the stars together—one book at a time!

Safety Announcements

Parking Lot

A big thank you to those who drive carefully through our parking lots. However, we are still unfortunately receiving reports of unsafe driving.

After reviewing camera footage, we realized that simply reminding families of the speed limit may not be enough. Instead, we suggest driving as if someone is walking alongside your car, as maintaining the 5 mph limit can be difficult to monitor when dropping off your child.

Defensive driving is essential—many of our pedestrians are young children who may suddenly take off running or change direction without warning. Let’s stay vigilant and keep safety our top priority!

Please continue to send any security concerns to security@montessoricenter.org.

Late Arrivals and Early Departures

Please make sure to always use the carpool door, which is equipped with an intercom to contact the office, when arriving or departing outside of your child's regular schedule. The office door should only be used when invited by administration. This helps ensure the safety of the outdoor spaces used by our LE and UE programs.

Have a wonderful week!

Best wishes,

Julie
