Winter Weather
With a cold front rolling in and snowflakes popping up in the local forecast, now is the perfect time to prepare for chilly and potentially inclement weather.
As temperatures continue to drop, please send in extra warm clothing for your child including hats, gloves, and extra socks as we will continue with our outdoor activities whenever the weather allows. In the case of extremely low temperatures, we will adjust as needed—either shortening outdoor time or staying indoors entirely.
With everyone bundling up in multiple layers, keeping track of coats, gloves, scarfs, sweaters, and more during playground transitions and dismissals can pose quite the challenge. Please help us out by labeling all of your child’s belongings—especially their coats and outdoor gear!
Now is also a good time to review our inclement weather policy. We understand how crucial reliable childcare is for families, and we do everything we possibly can to remain open. However, the safety of our teachers, staff, and school community—many of whom travel long distances—remains our top priority.
In the event of potential inclement weather, we will closely monitor forecasts and send preliminary updates via Child Pilot if challenges are expected for the following day. If conditions remain uncertain in the evening, we will continue to assess the situation and notify families as soon as a decision is made regarding a closure or a delayed start. Should conditions remain unclear overnight, a final decision will be communicated by 6:30 AM the next morning, with updates sent via Child Pilot and posted on our website’s notification bar. Please note that if Wake County Schools close, it does not necessarily mean we will follow their status. Unless you hear otherwise, please assume we are open. We strive to remain open whenever it’s safe and feasible, even if the day looks a little different. Rest assured, we will do everything we can to balance safety with service!
