New School Update

March 3 - 7, 2025

Welcome to your weekly source of updates, news, and reminders!

International Day Celebrations

Not long after TNS was founded in 1984, International Night became an annual tradition. Created to immerse students in the rich diversity of world cultures and foster tolerance, this longstanding event reflects the global perspective at the core of our peace curriculum.

At the beginning of the school year, each classroom selects a country to study throughout the year. As students explore their chosen country, they engage in activities that celebrate its culture through food, language, music, artifacts and art, traditional costumes, research projects, and more.

Now, 40 years later, the event continues as a daytime celebration, with each classroom participating in its own unique format. This Friday, our students will honor their selected countries through various activities. Please refer to communications from your child's teachers for details.

Below is a list of classroom selections for International Day 2025!

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Nido & EY: Italy

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ CH1: Switzerland

๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฌ CH2: Madagascar

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ด CH3: Jordan

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ CH4: India

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท LE1: Brazil

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ LE2: Australia

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ UE: New Zealand

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ MAP: Philippines

Please note that Friday is no longer an Early Release Day and will be a full day with regular operating hours (including chess club). However, if you plan to pick up your child at noon, please inform your child's teachers in advance so they can plan ahead.

Make-up Pizza Day

Tuesday, March 4th, will be a make-up Pizza Day for the snow closure in January. If your child is signed up for our Pizza Wednesdays, they will enjoy pizza on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week. For our young pizza enthusiasts, weโ€™re sure this will be very welcome news!

Picture Orders

The deadline to order your child's pictures from Spoiled Rotten Photography is March 4th. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties ordering or if you have any questions.

Annual School Dance

Our annual school dance is fast approaching on March 14! A common question we've received is which dance siblings in different programs should attend. If you have children in both the CH and Elementary or MAP programs, older siblings are welcome at the CH dance. The Elementary dance, however, is for LE and older students only. Many thanks to Ms. Linda and Ms. Lisa and the Student Council for hosting this fun annual event!

Spring After-school Program and Clubs

As our winter clubs wrap up in a few weeks, stay tuned for details about our spring after-school club lineup! We're excited to offer these enriching opportunities for our students, and having them right here at school makes it even more convenient for families! We recognize, though, that the logistics can be challenging for those with multiple siblings.

To address this, weโ€™re exploring options for families with different dismissal times and are actively interviewing candidates to help support our after-school program. If you're interested in applying for a position (from approximately 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM), please reach out! Weโ€™re happy to offer tuition discounts or compensation for this support. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please encourage them to apply as well.

Enjoy the spring weather!

Julie
