PACK 25, SHELTON - Continued working on their Pack Summertime Award and went to their Cubmaster's house to watch a movie in his backyard. Weather was muggy and they had a short shower just before starting. So after a quick scramble to cover the electrical stuff and wait out the storm, but don't worry there was enough snacks and movie popcorn for everyone.

SAFETY MOMENT - FAMILY CAMPING

There are two appropriate camping experiences for Cub Scouts: family camping, organized by the council, and pack overnighters. Family camping, along with resident camping, is another timeless outdoor experience that involves Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, or Venturing program elements in an overnight setting. It requires that two or more family members attend, including at least one BSA member, to count as family camping. Youth Protection policies still apply, but of course parents are responsible for the supervision of their children. More...
Scouts and their parents expect all Boy Scouts of America activities to be conducted safely. To ensure the safety of participants, the Boy Scouts of America expects leaders to use the four points of SAFE when delivering the Scouting program.

TERRIFICON is this summer at the Mohegan Sun Expo Center, in Uncasville CT, on July 30-August 1, 2021. The event coordinators have allowed the Boy Scouts of America to provide 10-12 volunteers each day to be runners.

Because of the responsibility the Scouts will need to be 14 years old or older. Their role will be directing people where to go in the Expo Center, and assist booths when they need someone to watch their booth while taking a quick break.

Other roles will include:
  • Assisting at the Boy Scouts of America display
  • Getting a bottle of water for VIPs
  • Passing flyers
  • Escorting celebrities and special guests to their appointed locations
  • Deliver supplies
  • Assisting in other events like the kid’s parade.

Scouts and Scouters will be required to wear their full class A uniform for the entire event. Lunch is scheduled to be provided by TERRIFICON. Volunteers get in for FREE. It’s a great opportunity to help volunteer, showcase and promote Scouting in Connecticut to our youth. People come from all over CT for this event.

Schedule of Events:
  • Friday July 30: set up shift: 10am to 12:30pm, event shift: 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm

BSA MEMBERSHIP FEE INCREASE AS OF AUGUST 1, 2021

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has worked to keep the membership fee as low as possible. Unfortunately, operating costs have continued to rise, and COVID-19 has compounded the need to increase the fee to maintain the program.
To ensure we have the resources to fulfill the promise of Scouting, the updated national membership fee is
  • $72 for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouts participants
  • $45 for Exploring participants
  • $30 for council-paid memberships
  • $45 for all adult volunteers (includes cost of background check)
  • $75 for a unit charter fee
The membership fees will take effect August 1, 2021, for the 2021-2022 program year.
The one-time $25 joining fee for new program participants in Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing and Sea Scouts is still required; however, there is no joining fee for Exploring participants, participants previously registered in any BSA program, those transferring from one program to another, council-paid memberships, or adult volunteers.
