The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in partnership with the New York City Housing Development Corporation and the Senior Housing Program of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 114 project based Section 8 apartments now under construction at 230 Riverdale Ave. in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn. These one bedroom apartments are designated for seniors age 62 and older at the time of application.
The apartment amenities are geared towards seniors, and include:
Showers with seats
Hallway Rail bars and call buttons
Hi-tech security system with video screens in each apartments,
Handicapped accessible entryways
Outdoor gardens
On-site Senior Center to provide hot meals, programs, social activities
Qualified applicants must apply by regular mail by June 15, 2012 to be considered for these apartments. Click here for an application. Selections will be made by lottery. Eligible seniors currently residing in a NYCHA building will receive preference for 20 percent of the units.
