You do not need to have any experience playing in a group. Our groups are designed to get everyone involved. MockingBird Music has been bringing people together to make music since 2001. Bands are formed 4-5 times per year. Each session culminates in a performance either on the Mockingbird Stage or another venue which has included Showcase Live, The Hard Rock Cafe, Mansfield Music and Arts Society, The Tavern on The Hill and Shoveltown Brewery.
90% of our participants have repeated our programs at least once and many are considered "regulars" participating in almost every session since they have started. This is a testament to our professional instructors and the welcoming and exciting environment we strive to create.
Instructors coach players in the art of making music as a group which is very different from experiencing music as an individual. Instructors also fill in on any instrument in order to complete the band when necessary. Using their vast experience in coordinating groups and performing themselves, instructors also help choose a song list that best fits the group and its participants. Everyone is involved in the song selections, typically choosing four to six songs per session.
