Introducing Shifa for Youth Programs

Focused on Newcomer Families and Students

Successful Outreach and Resource Event with Local Middle School

MAS-SSF proudly presented our upcoming services for newcomer students and families under our Shifa for Youth Program. We were able to showcase our services at the brand-new site of the Katherine Johnson Middle School during a resource-focused gathering for students and families. 



MAS-SSF now offers several wide-ranging services centered around youth and families including:

• Play & Learn Groups for Children 2-5
• Developmental Screenings
• Parent- and Family-Focused Workshops
• Fun Family Activities
• Youth-Based Workshops
• Youth Mentorship
• One-on-One Peer Support for Youth
• Family Advocacy
• School Enrollment & Academic Support
• Support for Schools and School Staff Workshops

Katherine Johnson Middle School and MAS-SSF hosted this event bringing together like-minded community service agencies. Programs and services were presented to attendees in English, Dari, Farsi and Pashto. Respective agency staff were available to complete enrollments into programs for interested families.

Covered California, provider of state-wide healthcare insurance plans for individuals, families, groups and small businesses, and Medicare/senior plans.

The Lao Family Community Development organization dedicated to helping immigrant, refugee, and low-income families achieve long-term social and economic self-sufficiency.

The Refugee Enrichment & Development Association (REDA) which offers many refugee programs and services.

Nearly 60 attendees enjoyed this event and benefited from the available resources. In addition to a delicious meal prepared by East Market & Restaurant, four lucky families won a $50 gift card each during our raffle.
