Portside Gallery Artists

The Portside Gallery was opened in 1996 by a collective of artists and ran successfully for 25 years. When the gallery closed the group continued to work together to contribute to the visual arts in the community.

The artists in the group work in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, printmaking and mixed media. They collaborate on exhibitions and events and support each other in their artistic endeavors.

The collective nature of the group allows them to share ideas, techniques and resources , which helps to foster creativity and innovation. The artists are able to draw insiration from each others work and they often collaborate on projects and exhibitions.

We are happy to welcome them to ArtwithPanache for the month of August.

Don Muller

Featured Panache Artist

Don has had an interest in art since childhood with his parents encouraging him to draw. Formal art training includes an Architectural Arts course at Fanshawe. He worked for a year for sculptor Ed Zelenak and then later worked on constructed sculptures on his own. His initial inspiration to make boxes came from a trip to Argentina where he met a craftsman making boxes which had an engraved metal design set into the tops and wooden hinges. He bought one and brought it home and thought it would be fun to try making his own. "Over the years I have developed my way of working. It is either a piece of wood or a combination of woods for the top that starts the process." Don uses a variety of woods to develop different designs.

Don attends life drawing classes at London TAPS. He is a regular volunteer at ArtwithPanache and is up for any task that needs to be completed.
