Speed Zone Change on Cornell

Slow down on Cornell Road, a new speed limit is in effect. The speed limit on Cornell Road, between 28th Avenue and Cornelius Pass Road, has been lowered to 35 mph.

The change reflects the increasingly urban character of the area. Lower speeds improve safety for all travelers, especially pedestrians and cyclists. ODOT approved the change following a speed study in response to safety concerns from the public, Washington County, and the City of Hillsboro.

The speed limit on Cornell Road is now 35 mph for all sections west of Cornelius Pass Road.

Let's all do our part - slow down for safety.

Protect Yourself from Permit Payment Scams

The Oregon Building Codes Division (BCD) is warning Oregonians about a phishing scam targeting people awaiting building or planning permit approvals.

Scammers claiming to be from local governments are sending emails requesting wire transfers for permit payments. The messages insist that communication should only happen via email.

“We don’t work that way,” says Derrick Moon, Washington County Building Official. “People coming to us for permits are welcome to interact in person and over the phone."

"We do not ask people to wire funds to us. If you get a message asking you to wire funds, contact our office directly to confirm and protect yourself.”

If you are in the permitting process and receive a suspicious payment request, please call 503-846-3470 or stop by in person to verify.
