Case Scenario: Obtaining Consent for Student Involvement
Kendra is supervising a student, Jamie, on her first clinical placement. During their initial visit with a client, Kendra asks and receives verbal consent to have Jamie observe the physical assessment and transfer from bed to chair.

During their second visit, Kendra asks Jamie to transfer the client, but the client then becomes upset. Kendra quickly takes charge while Jamie steps back.

Later, the client says she did not feel comfortable and did not give consent for the student to touch her.

Jamie the student is distraught and Kendra wonders what went wrong? View the discussion
Q&A: Obtaining Consent from Divorced or Separated Parents
You asked us: When obtaining informed consent for occupational therapy services provided to a child, are both parents required to give consent or is it sufficient for an OT to rely on consent from one parent?

What if the parents are divorced or separated?

Revised Standards
