What’s happening in the world of HVAC? A lot! There’s a new LEED standard, a new energy efficiency standard from ASHRAE – the SEER2 updates are already in effect as of January 1st – and there’s more and more attention on the need to ensure healthier indoor air for everyone.
Building Controls – Sensors to Monitor Your Systems at All Times
With the cold weather months upon us, be sure you have the benefits of building controls and sensors to keep a watchful eye on things! Especially when you step away for the evening or weekend, building controls are your backup protection. They’ll monitor vital systems like temperature controls, fire protection, chiller operations, water lines and plumbing, and indoor air quality to alert you to any changes or emergencies. We can install, or service, building controls that provide peace of mind and help save on energy resources too.
How's the Air in There?
Businesses wrestling with hybrid work models, moving back to full-time, in-person work, or labor market issues should make healthy indoor air quality (IAQ) a part of their plan to engage employees and boost productivity.
NYC Schools Show MERV-13 Success
According to Eneref Institute, the schools used increased airflow to keep filtering out pathogens even when temperature control was unnecessary, and they found the HVAC system filtered more air faster than portable purifiers.
Up to 90% of U.S. schools do not meet minimum ASHRAE ventilation standards.

Many facilities don’t test their indoor air quality or monitor ventilation system performance. While OSHA currently does not set indoor pollutant exposure limits for employees, reactions to the COVID pandemic and a growing body of research on human health and productivity have brought more attention to the need for a national indoor air quality standard.

All the fluctuating cold and wet this winter can put more particulates into your indoor air, asking your filters to do more work to achieve your air quality targets. Make sure filters get the attention they need when weather events add more stress!
