Updates on Florida State Legislation & Senate Rules

As part of our commitment to keeping Floridians informed, we’re providing an update on legislation currently being discussed in the Florida Legislature that could impact voting access.

The proposed SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) has drawn national attention due to its potential impact on voter registration processes. For those who would like to learn more, the Fact Sheet provided by the U.S. Fair Elections Center offers an overview of the bill’s key provisions and how they may affect voters.

SB 1334 raises serious concerns about access and equity in our elections.

  • Disproportionately impacts seniors, students, and low-income individuals who may not have easy access to documents like passports or birth certificates.
  • Voters who have changed their names (e.g., due to marriage) face hurdles if their current legal name does not match the name on their birth certificate.
  • Could create bureaucratic challenges for supervisors of elections and poll workers.
