 It has been another busy week at Williston Economic Development. This week the Williston City Commission approved STAR Fund grants for two important projects; Hops and Berry in Downtown Williston and Executive Air Tax Corporation at XWA.

STAR Fund allocates $108,000 for New Taproom, Air Ambulance Service
News Release - The Williston City Commission has approved STAR Fund grants for a new taproom and air ambulance. Hops & Berry, LLC will receive up to $10,000 while Executive Air Taxi Corporation will collect up to $108,000 from the STAR Fund's Flex PACE Interest Buydown Program. Hops & Berry is a new self-service beer and wine taproom that will be in housed in the Renaissance on Main building in Downtown Williston. The taproom will offer up to 46 craft beer selections, eight wines and limited food options. Hops & Berry is owned by Williston attorney TJ Corcoran. Read More
Public Works and Engineering moves to New Location

Some City of Williston departments are trading places. Williston Public Works and Engineering is leaving Gene Emery Public Works (809 5th Street East) and moving to the new Williston Public Works (1121 5th Street East). Meanwhile, the auditor's office is transferring to Gene Emery while City Hall is renovated. The moves are part of the City's long-term efforts to build capacity for current and future staff needs. "These projects will provide adequate building capacity for our employees and equipment for the next 30 to 40 years," said Williston Mayor Howard Klug. Read More
Dedication held for Freedom Monument; STAR Fund supports Project

Williston Herald - The rain and the cold wasn't enough to stop people from coming out in droves to be a part of the Freedom Monument's dedication on Wednesday night. As the rain poured down, hundreds huddled together under a canopy near Riverview Cemetery, site of the Freedom Monument, for the memorial's dedication on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The weather wasn't dissuading anyone, as many stood wherever they could find a free space, just to be a part of the event. Read More
Williston featured in The Irish Times
The Irish Times - Global oil prices have dropped almost 50 per cent below their 2014 high. But here in North Dakota, oil is still the only game in town.  Named after Henry Bakken , on whose land the first well was constructed in 1953, the Bakken Formation is thought to hold about 7.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil stretching across western North Dakota, Montana and north into the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan In Watford City and Williston, ground zero of the Bakken oil boom, camp sites are full and prefab houses or 'man camps' built to house oil workers litter the otherwise bucolic countryside. Pick-ups with registration plates from Florida, Oklahoma and especially Texas dominate the streets.    Read More
NDPC Annual Meeting Sept. 17-19 in Watford City
McKenzie County Farmer - Top energy experts will be in Watford City on Sept. 17-19 as the  North Dakota Petroleum Council holds its 2019 Annual Meeting at the Rough Rider Center. The meeting will kick off at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with Bakken 2.0, a two-hour education session that is free and open to the public in the Watford City High School Theater. Clean Up Williston Sept. 28
News Release - It's time to spruce up Williston for fall and winter! Clean Up Williston will be held  Saturday, September 28 at 8:30 a.m. at  Ardean Aafedt Stadium . Volunteers  will receive a free t-shirt from the City of Williston. A free lunch will be held courtesy of Marquis Metal Works and Pacific Steel & Recycling at 11:30 a.m.  Already have plans that Saturday but want to do your part? Community invited to XWA Grand Opening Oct. 5
Williston Economic Development - Williston area residents are invited to the grand opening of the Williston Basin International Airport on Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lace up your tennis shoes for the Runway Run at 11 a.m., enjoy family-friend events, entertainment and tours of XWA! The new $270 million regional airport will be on display for one day only. Don't miss your chance to see airport before it officially begins operation on Thursday, October 10. CHI St. Alexius Williston expands

KXMD-TV - The oil boom brought a lot of people to Western North Dakota. Since, things have died down, but one health care provider says they are still seeing their patient numbers rise.  Over the past few years, CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Williston has seen growing numbers and has had to create new services.  "Our town has really changed. Our average age is 32, so we've had to change some of the services that we offer," said Lori Hahn, VP of Patient Care.  Read More
