Since President Trump signed our new federal tax code into law, a lot has been happening in a very short time period. Nationally, the December jobs report also showed that we added 60,000 more jobs than originally projected, while companies paid out a little over $1.5 billion in bonuses and spent $1.6 billion in capital improvements. More importantly, planned layoffs for 2018 drastically dropped and job creation has risen sharply.

Right here in Missouri, Commerce Bancshares, Kansas City Southern and Great Southern Bancorp all announced significant bonuses to their employees. They were not the only ones to announce employee bonuses, but they certainly grabbed the headlines. Some of these bonuses arrived right before the end of 2017, while some kicked of 2018 with a pay raise.

Missouri families have waited long enough for a pay raise. Many Missourians have gone 8 years since receiving a pay raise. While it is good to see our national unemployment rate continue to decline, it is more important to see Missourians returning home with bigger paychecks.

The restoring of the American Dream has just begun, but much work lies ahead of us. Washington's extreme liberals remain united in opposing our common sense agenda. They wish to return us to the days of smaller paychecks and more government regulations.
