TRAVIS JONES' BOOK OF THE MONTH

"Start with No" by Jim Camp

Start with No by negotiation coach Jim Camp is a contrarian guide to the art of give-and-take. It proposes that saying "no" and having veto power is crucial in reaching favorable agreements. Camp's method emphasizes decision-oriented actions and teaches how to control what can be controlled in negotiations. The book explains steps such as defining a mission, understanding the adversary, assessing investments, preparing an agenda, and tracking behavior. Despite its unorthodox approach, applying Camp's method may lead to winning results. The reader found the book amazing, enjoyed it more than others, and successfully applied the principles by saying "no" or giving clients the opportunity to do so.
