Diamond Hill Road and Douglas Pike Bridges over I-295, Cumberland/Smithfield
Next week, motorists can expect the closure of Route 114 (Diamond Hill Road) over I-295 for two nights while crews install a water main. Operations will begin at 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday nights, with the overnight closures starting at 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. the following day. Motorists can also expect frequent vehicle access in and out of the work zone during daytime hours. Please follow signed detours.

Bridge Group 18C_R – Frenchtown, East Greenwich/ North Kingstown
Tonight, we are changing the traffic pattern at the South County Trail Bridge, carrying Route 2 (South County Trail) over Route 4. This will allow us to continue demolishing the bridge, plus make other important changes, which are explained here.
Weather permitting, on Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., we need to close Route 402 (Frenchtown Road) at the Frenchtown Road Bridge over Route 4 for striping. We’re also expecting alternating lane closures for additional bridge work on Route 4 in the vicinity of Exit 5, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-95 15 Bridges, Providence/Cranston/Warwick
Next week at this project, expect alternating lane closures on I-95, from Park Avenue to Thurbers Avenue, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews will focus on wall work and installing overhang brackets at the West Elmwood Railroad Bridge over Amtrak. The contractor is also milling and paving a short section of I-95 in both directions, just north of the Route 10 (Exit 33) interchange. We have done numerous lane shifts in this area for three bridge replacements, and the new coat of asphalt will improve the riding surface and remove any marks of previous lane striping changes. The paving will be done by mid-September, weather dependent. Use caution when driving over milled and uneven areas.

The I-95 ‘Missing Move’ and Quonset Ramps Construction, North Kingstown/East Greenwich
Alternating lane closures are expected for roadway and drainage improvements on Route 403, from Post Road to West Davisville Road, for roadway and traffic signal improvements on Route 1 (Post Road) from Devil’s Foot Road to Route 403, and for traffic signal and sidewalk improvements on Gate Road at Post Road, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can also expect a left lane closure with frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zone for roadway improvements on Route 4 North, in the vicinity of Exit 9B (Division Street), Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Roadway and signage improvements also will involve right shoulder closures on Route 403, from Post Road to West Davisville Road, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Post Road & West Main Street Curb & Sidewalk, North Kingstown
Our overnight drainage work is scheduled to continue next week along both directions of Route 1 (Post Road), from Camp Avenue to Oakdale Avenue. Motorists can expect narrowed lanes, alternating one-way traffic and driveways or walkways blocked for this work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Pavement repairs will also continue. They involve alternating lane closures, narrowed lanes and frequent vehicle access in and out of the work zone within the same project limits on Post Road, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick
Bridge Group 51C: I-295 to Pontiac Avenue and from Amtrak to Post Road
Bridge preservation work will require alternating lane closures on Route 37 under Glen Hills Drive, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Next week at this project, motorists can also expect a right lane closure for paving on Route 37 West over Power Road, Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and alternating lane closures for drainage and electrical work on Route 1 (Post Road) under Route 37, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Guardrail installation next week at this project requires the closures of the on and off ramps on Route 146 at Exits 11, 12 or 13, Route 146, from Exit 7 to Exit 8B, with a detour to the service roads, Exit 10 (Route 146A) off Route 146 North and South, Route 146A South at Dowling Village Boulevard and the on-ramp from Route 146 to Route 146 North, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Expect alternating lane closures on I-295, from Exit 18A to Exit 18B, for miscellaneous construction activities, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and on Route 146, from Route 116 to the Massachusetts line, for guardrail installation, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should also expect alternating lane or road closures for miscellaneous construction activities on Route 99 South, from Exit 1 to the Route 146 South merge. Road construction along I-295, from Exit 18A to Exit 18B, Route 146, from Exit 8A to Exit 8B, and the ramp from Route 146 to Sayles Hill Road, may also involve nonconcurrent exit closures, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please check out our Weekly Traffic Forecast for the latest information and follow signed detours during all closures.

School Street, Lincoln
School Street, from Old River Road (Route 126) to Main Street in Albion, remains open to local traffic. With the assistance of police details and a flagger, through traffic is currently following an alternating traffic pattern around the construction activities weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews have placed the base course of pavement from Berkshire Drive to Kennedy Boulevard, drainage work continues from Kennedy Boulevard to Old River Road, and soon, installation for sidewalks and curbing should begin.

Warwick Corridor Project
Our improvements continue along the Warwick Corridor. Crews will focus on sidewalk, curbing and driveway work and minor landscaping. Expect a right lane closure on Route 1 (Post Road) North, from Main Avenue to the Airport Connector, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a lane shift along both directions of Main Avenue, from Greenwich Avenue to West Shore Road, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In-water construction continues at this project during daytime hours. Crews also are continuing work on establishing a construction platform in the river on the Providence shoreline to support foundation work.
We are installing 32 drilled shafts that will form the foundation of the new bridge. Each shaft will extend approximately 130 feet to bedrock, creating a support system for the bridge’s piers and abutments. Vibration and noise monitoring as well as erosion control are in place.
Ongoing bridge preventative maintenance is scheduled with left lane closures on both directions of I-195, from Broadway to the Massachusetts line, Tuesday-Thursday nights, September 8-10 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can also expect a right lane closure for tree work on I-195 East, from Purchase Street to Lyon Avenue, Tuesday night, September 1 from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. Routine bridge inspections require alternating one-way traffic on Gano Street and Waterfront Drive, under the Washington Bridge, Wednesday, September 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a right lane closure on I-195 East and West over the Washington Bridge, Thursday night, September 3 from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
