It's officially the Youth Advisory Committee's (YAC) recruitment season in August and September.
What is the YAC?
The YAC is a youth development program available exclusively to Miami-Dade County high school students that allows participants to explore leadership, service and advocacy. The YAC also provides eye-opening community service opportunities.
What are the benefits of joining the YAC?
9th through 12th grades are given the opportunity to:
- Earn an abundance of community service hours.
- Develop a service-learning project, with funds provided by The Children’s Trust.
- Participate in local field trips to meet local community leaders and experience Miami-Dade communities.
- Participate in a trip to the Capitol in Tallahassee during Florida Children’s Week to meet legislators and experience the political process.
- Gain strong leadership and teamwork qualities that will last a lifetime.

Fab Lab Miami
This week, we are highlighting Fab Lab Miami and the engaging programming they offer around digital fabrication and other STEAM-related activities so that youth can play, create, learn, mentor and invent. Fab Lab Miami was launched in 2020 in Liberty City at the Belafonte TACOLCY Center and proudly opened its second location this year in Homestead at the Phichol Williams Community Center. This expansion marked a new phase in the lab’s mission to make STEAM education accessible to underserved communities in Miami-Dade County. Fab Lab Miami has played a crucial role in fostering the development of young minds, encouraging exploration, creativity, learning, mentorship, and innovation. Students enrolled in Fab Lab Miami are currently learning 3D printing, vinyl cutting, laser cutting, coding, robotics, electronics, science experiments, and design software. Program Manager- $61,565.02 Annual
The position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This person requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation. This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead. The attached exhibits include additional responsibilities for the Program Manager leading our Metrics and PPD efforts.
Research and Evaluation Analyst - $61,565.02 Annual
The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth, and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.

Advocacy Network on Disabilities is seeking a compassionate and skilled Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Therapist to join its clinical team. The ideal candidate will have specialized training and experience in providing trauma-focused therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. The TF-CBT Therapist will be responsible for delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients who have experienced trauma, helping them to process their experiences, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall mental health.
Training and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Licensed or license eligible as a Mental Health Professional in the state of Florida.
Minimum of 2 years-experience working with children, adolescents and families, with a focus on trauma. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Creole. Salary: $60,000. AND offers 100% employer-paid medical benefits, 12 paid holidays, and generous PTO.
