Greetings!

If you've visited us during the past ten days, you've surely noticed that The Institute has been packed.  Of course, if you're a regular, you've probably been told that all those folks are in training to become Feldenkrais Practitioners.  There are always two training programs running here at The Institute.  They each meet for forty days per year, mostly over weekends, but for four weeks a year (two weeks for each of the two programs) the students are here during the week.  Beginning this Saturday and running through next week, a new training program will meet for the first time (this is likely old news to you as we've been sending you notices about the new program for a couple of months).

At any rate, we're having a quiet week this week before the excitement begins again next week.  Most ATM classes will be back in the big room this week, however next week most classes will return to the smaller room.  If you're here when the trainees are around, feel free to say, "Hi."  Who knows, at some point down the road, one of them might be teaching an ATM class you're taking.

Run the Distance is coming up this Thursday, and our guest teacher for that workshop, Julia Pak, has posted a new video that relates directly to the workshop.  Whether or not you're a runner, the video is concise and informative--check out the link in the article below.

Finally, our workshops for September are listed in the last article in this newsletter.  There are links to our website where you'll find more details about all upcoming workshops.  (And, you know we'll keep you informed in upcoming newsletters.)

As always, thanks so much for reading.  We hope to see you soon.

All the best,

THIS THURSDAY:

Run the Distance

 with the

Feldenkrais Method

Running

With Julia Pak, GCFP

Thursday, August 18th

Julia Pak and Jae Gruenke, the founder of The Balanced Runner, have posted a new video that demonstrates some of the running pitfalls Julia will be working on with you in this Thursday's workshop.  Click here to take a look.

Are you a runner?  Do you experience discomfort when you increase your distance?  Using the Feldenkrais Method can help you 'nip problems in the bud.' The aches and pains you develop during marathon or half-marathon training don't need to mean the end of your plans. By improving your mechanics you can finish your training and run without pain.

Earlybird Deadline is Tomorrow for
Moving Out of Pain
Back Pain

With Anat Meiri

Tuesday, August 23rd
Pain is a danger signal sent by the nervous system that demands our attention and lets us know that something is damaged or out of harmony.  Persistent pain is a stressor and leads us to restrict our activity and our movement.  Research has shown that the neural pathways created by constant, repetitive pain signals can result in pain that persists long after the injury or condition that caused it has healed or been alleviated.  The Feldenkrais Method provides us with effective techniques to interrupt the signals sent by an overtaxed nervous system and begin the process of eliminating pain.
